The Importance Of Bringing Traffic to Your Website
Driving huge amounts of traffic – any traffic – is the key to digital marketing success, isn’t it? To be able to boast about, we had a large number of visitors to our website last year, but, first things first, let’s understand why is website traffic is important to your business?
Your website needs to have traffic to convert visitors into a sale or a lead, “More traffic = More business” that easy? But you need to focus on increasing the quality of your website traffic, as not all traffic is good traffic. And in fact, wrong traffic can crush your business down.
Though website traffic is not the end goal, it’s one of the important wheels of your vehicle to reach your goal. Without this, you cannot entice anyone to learn about what you do and convert them to your customer. HubSpot’s latest State of Inbound Marketing report says that 61 percent of marketers listed generating website traffic as their top challenge.
We did it inch by inch and step by step by heeding the simple practices and strategies. Here is an overview of how to increase your website traffic.
How to Get More Traffic to Your Website
#1 Link Intersect
It’s incredible to beg, steal or buy quality backlinks to boost rankings. The way we do is ask website owners to earn valid links. First, we start with finding sites who link to our competitors or sites which talk about the same niche: project management.
After finding a handful of sites that are a good fit for ProofHub, we email the site owner, build a conversation, and ask for a link (Adding ProofHub to the list on their blog). Just make sure if you emailed someone that linked to any of your competitors there is a good chance they will also link to you. Also, we never miss a chance to outreach the website to add a link to our website where they proudly talked about us and our product.
#2 Internal Linking
Every marketer knows it well—when creating high-quality content, it’s important to entice both search engines and visitors. That’s why internal linking is important. An internal link unites one page of your website to another page. Which may include adding links from one blog post to older posts, or from one page to another page.
These types of links are useful to make readers travel through your website improving the search rank of the pages you link to and help define the architecture of your website. From usability to link juice improvements, internal linking can significantly improve your overall SEO performance. It’s a winning strategy for a strong internal architecture. We did ours, now it’s your turn to optimize your own!
#3 The Skyscraper Technique
We grow our website traffic to an extent by this approach. The Skyscraper Technique is a method to research link-worthy content, writing something even better than the competitors, and then dedicating to time create something even better (up-to-date and longer content). It simply means making it clear to Google that your content is more informative and useful.
The steps are:
- Step 1: Find link-worthy content around a topic with good search volume
- Step 2: Creating something even better
- Step 3: Email outreach to the right people to generate the links
To stand out, you need to build the biggest skyscraper—and then tell people about it. Have you tested this theory for yourself?
#4 Content That appeals to Influencers
Influential people are having a good hand on the Internet today. If you want those influential people to share your content, write stuff that directly appeals to them. We create content on LinkedIn that appeals to influencers who further share out content helping us reach to a large number of audience. Therefore, find influencers in your target market and reach out to them. With that said, when an influencer endorses your product and services, it leads to tons of traffic.
#5 Answering on Quora
Quora is one of the best ways to build authority in your industry. People ask questions. We post answers that are in-depth, clever, and witty with relevant links back to our site, giving a big boost in traffic. When used in the right manner, Quora can be a powerful traffic generator for your website. Make sure you do not neglect this platform!
#6 Using The Right Set of Keywords
If your site has a very low domain authority score, you’ll have to start targeting relevant keywords and phrases. We aim for long-tail keywords, keywords targeting buyer intent, and latent semantic keywords (LSI). Search Engine Journal reported a 78% increase in organic traffic after optimizing naturally for long-tail keywords. It’s good to ask yourself a few questions when jumping to keyword research for your website or blog post.
- What does my target audience look like?
- What type of content interests my readers?
- How to narrow down the niche I want to write about?
- What solution I am providing to my customers?
Search engines need to understand what your content is about to improve your chances of appearing in search engine results, therefore, we use keywords that acquire a fraction of the overall searches. Have you got your high-intent keyword and popular keyword bases included?
#7 Link Roundup
Getting the right traffic and rankings is a tough row to hoe, unlike the old days where you could buy a few links and attain the top 5 rankings in a few weeks. Let’s not miss this out: reaching out and getting placed on link roundups. We do this often. Link roundups are basically weekly or monthly summaries of top links that sites share. Start digging some people who are doing link roundups and do some outreach. Look for links of the week, “the best links of the day/month/etc,” to get links.
Now it’s your turn
All of these strategies are working great for us. All it takes is hard work, consistency, and a lot of patience to create something extraordinary. I hope the above tips double your website traffic. Just try it out, the results will amaze you.
